Tenzor Legal conquers the podium at the Barcelona Winter Series 2021/2022 stage

The six-stage regatta Winter Series of Spain – Barcelona Winter Series J/70 and Melges 32 has been holding regattas for several seasons under the auspices of the famous yacht club Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.

An interesting water area and a popular location gathered on December 17-19, at the third stage of the Series, a small but strong fleet in the J/70 class.

Among the 16 registered teams from Spain, Russia, Poland and the UK were teams consisting of fully professionals who have victories in the World and European Championships to their credit.

Russian Tenzor Team was represented at this regatta by two crews: Tenzor Legal consisting of Mikhail Yatsun, Leonid Klepikov, Timofey Zubkov and Nikita Ushkov, and Tenzor Sport with Milena Nikitina, Daniil Odintsovo, Alexander Grishunin and Alexander Andrianov.

During three racing days, the organizers held 9 races.

The first day passed with a light wind of 4-5 knots and became an excellent warm-up for the participants. At the end of the day, local teams from Spain (Monjo / Tenaz / Bodega Can Marles), who know their home waters perfectly, settled in the leaders, and just behind them, with the 4th result, the Tenzor Legal crew rushed in.

The second day turned out to be victorious for Mikhail Yatsun’s team – two races and two first arrivals! This allowed Tenzor Legal to gain a foothold in the third position.

Tenzor Sport led by Milena Nikitina could not realize their full potential due to problems with the speed of the boat – as a result, only the 8th intermediate position in the rating. As the team’s tactician Daniil Odintsov noted: “We have already tried a lot of things, changed the settings, changed the blockage, the stuffing of the shrouds. And still the boat goes slowly in this wind, which is surprising, because we are light and, conversely, we have to go fast. The opponents are accelerating well, and it is difficult for us to fight under such unequal conditions.”

The decisive third day of the race was held in good sunny weather and a working wind of 8-10 knots, allowing the participants to drive at a good speed and have fun. The results of the four races held that day put all the dots over the “I” and determined the three winners of the regatta. The Tenzor Legal team beat the Monjo team in an acute battle and rose to second place, winning the honorary “silver” of the regatta, and the Spanish team Tenaz became the winner.

In the top six, the Spaniards from the Bodega Can Marles team (4th place), the Russian team Bronenosec led by Kirill Frolov (5th place) and the Spanish team Alcaidesa Marina (6th place) completed the stage.

The crew of Tenzor Sport Milena Nikitina finished in 9th position.

Daniil Odintsov (Tenzor Sport tactician): “The guys did a geat job, they finished the regatta on the podium. The judges worked well, correctly set the distance, promptly changed the signs when the wind changed, so they managed to hold many interesting races. Everyone is happy and we really enjoy the competition!”.
