The great victory of the Russian team Tenzor Team in the Turkish regatta series Tour of Turkiye 2023!

On November 12, the results of a five–stage series of sailing regattas in the J/70 yacht class – Tour of Turkiye 2023 were summed up in Turkish Bodrum. During the summer season, 20 teams from Turkey, Russia, Spain and Italy competed for the victory.

A tight fight went on until the very final stage. The Russian Tenzor Team of Andrey Pushkin’s became the leaders of the overall standings after the second stage of the series, consolidated its leadership thanks to the victory at the fourth stage, but the rivals still had chances to win back positions in the final fifth stage, so the Russians had to act confidently and finish in the top 3.

The Tenzor Team crew of Andrey Pushkin, Daniil Odintsov, Alexander Andrianov and Nikita Ushkov coped with the goal, finishing the stage in second place.

The first race day of the Tour of Turkey 2023 was held with a weak wind. According to the results of the two races held, the Turkish Ameera Jet team of Emir Ikgoren was in the lead, winning one of the races. The team Eyed Mushrooms of Elizaveta Shestakova’s finished the day in second place with an equal number of points, and Andrey Pushkin’s Tenzor Team closed the top three.

“On the first day we had two long races of an hour and a half. We were in the lead in both races, but each time we lost our position on the second maneuver, because the wind abruptly changed direction and strength. We made minor mistakes, tried to control the opponents. As a result, the arrivals are 5-4, everyone is very close, in principle, the beginning is not bad,” noted tactician Daniil Odintsov.

The second race day was very interesting and dynamic, because there was a lot of wind with gusts from 16 to 27 knots. The strength of the wind was sometimes on the verge when it was still possible to give races on J/70 keel yachts. It turned out to be a good day for the Tenzor Team crew, but not ideal, since the team did not realize the chances twice. In one of the races there was a second arrival, although the crew was in the lead in the distance, in another race they also slightly deteriorated in the moment.

Igor Rytov’s “Russian Bogatyrs” team drove off superbly that day, becoming the leaders of the classification and registering the first three arrivals.

The Tenzor Team finished the final day of the regatta on a high note, winning the only race held that day.

In the final results, the winners of the stage were “Russian Bogatyrs”, the second place was taken by the Tenzor Team and the “top 3” was closed by the Turkish team Cheese JR.

Daniil Odintsov: “We finished the summer season in Turkey remarkably well: we finished second at the stage and won the series quite confidently. Three racing days were held in three different winds, and all the days were raced in different places. The location here is very interesting. You can race near the yacht club, there is an opportunity to go beyond the peninsula to the right,  racing between Kos Island and Turkey, or go to the left and find yourself in another water area. We are very pleased with our performance in the series, we have implemented the main task, and there are still many interesting regattas and projects ahead. We express our gratitude for the support of the team to our partners – the financial and legal group of companies Tenzor Consulting Group, the “Vedomosti.Sport” media source, as well as to all fans”.

The long-awaited and certainly the most memorable event of the final stage of the Turkish Tour of Turkiye 2023 series was the big award ceremony, where the winners and winners of the fifth stage and the champions and prize-winners of the entire series were honored. The Tenzor Team went out twice to receive valuable awards – prize for 2nd place on the stage and the main trophy is the victorious Cup of the Tour of Turkiye 2023!

Andrey Pushkin: “It was a great honor for us to take part in the Turkish Tour of Turkiye 2023 series and even more to win it. All the locations are wonderful and the conditions are fantastic for sailing. I especially want to mention the very friendly atmosphere throughout the series. The organizers have always tried to help in everything, and it made an unforgettable impression on us. We appreciate with gratitude the actions of the host country to allow Russian athletes to take part in competitions. We hope to continue to meet on the water within various series and identify the strongest. Thanks to the organizers, the rivals, my team, all our big friendly sports family Tenzor Sailing Club and those who supported us”.
