The Russian Tenzor Team becomes the champion of Turkey in the J/70 class

On October 15, the results of the status regatta – the Turkish championship in the J/70 class were summed up in the Turkish city of Cesme. The competition was also held in the rank of the fourth stage of the Tour of Turkey 2023 series.

Almost two dozen teams from Turkey, Russia and Spain gathered in the Aegean Sea, which is famous for excellent, but very unpredictable winds. Russia was represented by the Tenzor Team of Andrei Pushkin, the “Russian Bogatyrs” of Igor Rytov, the Eyed Mushrooms of Elizaveta Shestakova and Hubex Kirill Frolov.

The four-day competition turned out to be very intense, as there were constant permutations in the leading group.

The first day of the race was held in a fairly strong wind from 14 to 18 knots, the boats were constantly planing on the full course. According to the results of the day, Tenzor Team became the leaders, who came third twice and achieved one victory, which got Andrei Pushkin’s team in a face-to-face fight on the last fly down wind with the strongest Turkish team EKER KAYMAK of Ahmet Eker. The Turkish team Ameera Jet of Emir Ikgoren lost only 1 point to the Russians, the top-3 of the day was closed by the EKER KAYMAK team.

The second race day met the regatta participants with interesting wind conditions. The wind slightly weakened, and not all participants guessed from the side. This affected the balance of power in the classification at the end of the day. Tenzor Team managed to keep the lead, showing three arrivals in the top 5. One race won was marked by Ameera Jet, which retained the second position, and the DENIZCIK team of Guryel Gulboy broke out on the third line. EKER lost two positions, passing ahead of Elizaveta Shestakova’s Eyed Mushrooms. An interesting fight and minimal gaps between the leading five tied the intrigue in the fight for the prize podium.

Following the results of the third race day, the Turkish teams lost ground to their rivals from Russia, so the results table was shuffled again. Nevertheless, Andrey Pushkin’s Tenzor Team remained the leader of the classification, despite the fact that the rivals attacked and reduced the gap. Elizaveta Shestakova’s Eyed Mushrooms came in second place, and Kirill Frolov’s Hubex, which won two races in a row, rose to third place at the end of the penultimate race day. Turkish teams Ameera Jet, Denizcik, Eker Kayamak completed the top six.

“It’s not easy to chase in a weak wind. These conditions are a little harder for us. The starts were wonderful, but the races themselves were difficult, as the corners won, both the right and left sides worked,” said Daniil Odintsov, a Tenzor Team tactician at the finish.

The final race day turned out to be windless, so the final results were summed up for 8 races that took place over the previous three days.

The winner of the regatta and the champion of Turkey in the J/70 class was the Tenzor Team consisting of Andrei Pushkin, Daniil Odintsov, Alexander Andrianov and Nikita Ushkov.

“Silver” and “bronze” were also taken by the Russian teams of Elizabeth Shestakova’s Eyed Mushrooms and Kirill Frolov’s Hubex.

Daniil Odintsov: “We are very pleased with this significant victory. It was the most important and responsible stage, as it was held in the status of the Turkish Championship. A serious line–up of participants, an interesting fight, a new audience of races – we had fun and experience. We thank the organizers for the invitation, our rivals for such a dynamic regatta.
