The second stage of the Turkish regatta Tour of Turkey 2023 ended with a brilliant victory of Andrey Pushkin’s Tenzor Team. The results were summed up for four races held in total. The top three were Russian teams – Tenzor Team (10 points), Hubex (17 points) and Bogatyrs (19 points). 18 yachts took part in the regatta.
The start of the competition was given on April 7 after the traditional briefing and registration of participants. The crew of Andrey Pushkin, Daniil Odintsov, Alexander Andrianov and Nikita Ushkov spent the first day of the race confidently, registering the first two arrivals from the three races held, which allowed the team to lead the regatta rating with 7 points and a good margin over the nearest rivals – the Hubex and Cheese JR teams.
“It turned out to be a very long day, because we were waiting for the wind, and we started racing only at 3 p.m. We had three races, which were successful and productive for us. There were good starts in two races, and we came first. And in the second race, the start did not work out – they took it in a difficult position, and in the end they came fifth. The wind was strong, it was not easy, but we turned out to be the most stable of the entire fleet,” said team tactician Daniil Odintsov.
Racing days on Saturday and Sunday turned out to be windless. In the only race held on Saturday, the crew of Andrei Pushkin closed the top three. The first parish was earned by Igor Rytov’s “Russian Bogatyrs”, the second came the experienced Turkish team of Ameera Jet Emir Icgoren. The participants spent Sunday on the shore without racing, but with a pleasant award ceremony of the winners and prize-winners.
Daniil Odintsov: “We had only one race on Saturday, as there was a weak wind, and we waited a long time for the start again. The race was interesting, the wind conditions were unstable. Our team passed this race well: at first we were in the lead, we went first, but then we made a few small tactical mistakes, as a result of which we ended up in third place, and then we controlled the rivals who were coming from behind, and the leaders – the first and second boat could not catch up. Nevertheless, we are satisfied with the result, the stability is getting better every time. On the final race day, the forecast was quite disappointing and as a result, it was not possible to hold a single race. We are very pleased with the victory in this stage and the achieved goal. Thanks to the team, rivals and organizers.”
The victory at the second stage and the previously won “silver” at the first allowed Tenzor Team to take the lead in the overall standings of the Tour of Turkey series after two stages. The next meeting of the participants will take place from May 20 to 22 in Istanbul.
